I am committed to keeping your personal data safe and secure.


Due to a change in the law in May 2018, I’m updating my Privacy Policy to make it easier for you to understand what information I collect and keep, why I collect this information and how your data is being handled when you cease using my services.


I take all appropriate technical steps to protect the confidentiality, integrity and authenticity of your data.


The purpose of this policy

This Privacy Policy is designed to help you understand what kind of information I collect in connection with my service and how I process and use this information. In the course of providing you with services I will collect and process information that is commonly known as personal data.

This policy describes how I collect, use, retain and safeguard personal data. It also sets out your individual rights to know what data is held about you, how this data is processed and how you can place restriction on the use of your data.


About me

I am a Complementary Therapy Practitioner, who trades under the name of the Positive Living Company and practices in a private consulting room. I am registered as a Data Controller; with the Information Commissioners Office, in the category of Healthcare and my registration reference number is Z8835642



Reasons for processing information

I process information to enable me to provide Complementary Health services to my clients and maintain full records of treatments for a minimum of seven years after the date of your last treatment with me, in line with my insurance policy.

For minors I keep records for at least 7 years after they have turned 18.


Type of information processed

I process information relevant to the above purposes.

This information may include:

Personal details such as name, address, date of birth, contact details, a health history to include any physical/ mental health details and family details. Lifestyle, social circumstances and G.P contact details are also noted.



I process your information in the following ways

I hold your data on an internal customer database system, which is secure. Hand written consultation and treatment record notes are stored in a locked cabinet as required by The Data Protection Act.


Who the information may be shared with?

I sometimes need to share the information I process with you, the individual or where necessary or required I share with other healthcare professionals, such as medical doctors. This is done with compliance to all aspects of The Data Protection Act.

I will not transfer any information outside of the U.K.



My website does not contain “cookies” nor does it collect visitor’s IP addresses.

I have written permission for any testimonials on this website.


Your Rights

You have

  • the right to be informed;
  • the right to access;
  • the right to rectification/update and change your details;
  • the right to erasure (but not client consultation notes required by insurance companies);
  • the right to restrict processing;
  • the right to data portability;
  • the right to object; and the right to not be subject to automated decision-making, including profiling.

You also have the right to complain to the ICO ( if you feel there is a problem with the way I am handling your data. I handle subject access requests in accordance with the GDPR.

The website will be updated with any changes to this policy.
