Reiki
is the practice of using pure universal energy to help
bring balance and harmony to a person, on all levels.
The word ‘Reiki’ translates into ‘Rei’ (Universal Life
Force) and ‘Ki’ (Energy), and the concept of
reiki
as a healing mechanism pre-dates the system of
Reiki
introduced by Dr. Usui Makao in the twentieth century.
In fact, the belief in the use of life supporting
universal energy to promote and encourage a balanced
body, mind and spirit, can be found throughout history
in many different cultures, and anyone can do it!
Reiki is a
non-denominational healing practice and works very well
alongside the various belief sets and practises in the
world today. Dr. Usui introduced 5 key principles to
the practice of Reiki, which are soundly based in common
sense and of great value:
-
Just for today, do not anger
-
Just for today, do not worry
-
Honour your parents, teachers and elders
-
Earn your living honestly
-
Show gratitude
Reiki is normally
studied in 3 to 4 different stages, and the entire
journey can be done for personal enjoyment and benefit,
with there being no pressure to professionally
practise. Please find below more information on the
different stages involved in Reiki training.
In brief, human
beings are supported by the environment (universe) that
we live in, for example, the air we breathe and the sun
that warms our planet. A Reiki Practitioner will look
to use the life supporting energy of the universe to
help the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual
‘dis-ease’ we all experience at one time or another.
The universal energy is a constant and pure energy and
works to bring the person back to a state of harmony
within themselves and to re-balance their own energies,
so that any healing needs can be addressed.
A normal Reiki
treatment will involve the recipient lying comfortably
on a couch in a peaceful environment, while the
practitioner gently holds their hands to different parts
of the recipient’s body, or hovers them just above the
body in the aura of energy we all have around us. Reiki
is, therefore, a hands-on treatment and the recipient
will remain clothed throughout the whole treatment. The
practitioner will be in effect, ‘channelling’ universal
energy through their own energy system into the
recipient’s energy system. The practitioner is a medium
through which universal energy passes through into the
recipient. Most people in the modern world are not in
touch with their own energy system, and through the
simple Reiki training techniques, we can all learn how
to balance and heal ourselves and others.

world and to what you individually are capable of
achieving!
Reiki I
At Reiki I, you are
introduced to the theory, history and practise of
Reiki. The course will consist of 2 separate days of
training 2-3 weeks apart to allow time for integration
and assimilation of the new healing energy.
All stages of Reiki
use a technique called an ‘Attunement’ to allow you to
personally experience the flow of universal life force
energy. Your Reiki Master/Teacher will perform a
sequence of techniques designed to introduce this new
energy to your own energy system, and to enhance your
experience of it.
You will receive
comprehensive tuition and guidance in the key principles
underlying not just Reiki, but all healing and holistic
therapies and practises, and be instructed and advised
in how to utilise Reiki for the Highest Good of All.
During the course
you will discuss, practise and experience the following:
-
History of Reiki
and Different Energy Systems
-
Ethical Framework
and Healing Concepts
-
What is Energy
and How Can it be Used?

opinions will always be encouraged.

Reiki II
At Reiki II you will learn how to
conduct professional Reiki treatments for clients,
although you are under no obligation to practise
professionally and can take Reiki II for your own use.
Practical advice will be given on how to set up and
conduct a business practising Reiki, but the majority of
the course concentrates on developing your healing
practise generally.
We will review experiences gained
during the Reiki I stage and consolidate these with
additional techniques. You will also be introduced to
the theory and use of 3 healing symbols. These symbols
are powerful ways of harnessing energy to direct and use
in, broadly speaking, 3 different ways. Drawing or
using a symbol is one way of capturing Energy and
shaping it to manifest in a particular way. Human
history is full of powerful symbols such as the Cross,
the Ankh and the Swastika, all of which evoke different
feelings within us about what they mean and how they
affect us. The 3 symbols at Reiki II use powerful and
positive healing energy to introduce different nuances
to our practise of Reiki.
We will also further explore the
concepts behind good Energy Management, which is a
recurring theme in the practise of any kind of healing
or holistic therapy. We all need to ensure we use
appropriate methods for using and controlling the flow
of energy between ourselves and the world around us, so
that our intention is in the right place and our own
energy levels remain strong and constant.
During the course you will
discuss, practise and experience the following:
-
The Use of
Symbols in Healing
-
The ‘Power’
Symbol and its Different Uses
-
The Symbol to Use
with Emotional / Mental Imbalances

Reiki III
Master Practitioner / Teacher Courses
At
the Master Practitioner Level, you will go more deeply
into what healing is, how it works, why it doesn’t work,
and where your responsibilities towards others should
begin and end. You are encouraged to look into yourself
and your real motivations in learning and acquiring
healing techniques. Although this stage can be taken
purely for personal use, a lot of people are already
thinking about becoming Reiki Teachers, and as such, a
lot of care and thought needs to be taken before you
take on the care and direction of other people and their
Reiki journeys.
It
is true that a lot of Reiki Master Courses run the
Practitioner and Teacher Courses together in a single
2-3 day course. While there is obviously a place for
this type of course and it is exactly what some people
want and need, take a moment to consider whether 7 days
of training (ReikiI+ReikiII+ReikiIII) over a period of
time for you is sufficient to become a Reiki Teacher.
It
is also true that different Reiki Master/Teachers hold
different views and opinions about what Reiki is and how
it should be practised, and this variety has advantages
and disadvantages. The Reiki Master/Teacher taking the
course at the Positive Living Centre takes the view that
the Master Practitioner Stage should be split from the
Master Teacher Stage, so that time can be spent between
the two separate courses understanding and learning what
Reiki really means to you, and how you want to present
it to other people when you become a Master Teacher.
She
also takes a flexible approach to Reiki, seeing it as
one way to access Energy and that there are many other
ways available too. Energy can be channelled at
different vibrational levels, which can be given
different names or labels in order to distinguish
between them, for example, angelic energy, shamanic
energy, sound energy, energy of colours etc. etc. The
attunement process in Reiki allows us to experience the
effect and impact of Energy in our lives and the world
around us, but it is we who choose how to use it and how
to further develop and enhance our use of it. At the
Reiki Master Level, she believes you start to reach out
beyond the original traditional system of Reiki as
developed in Japan by Dr. Usui, to learn your own unique
approach.
During the course you will discuss, practise and
experience the following:
-
The Use and
Practise of 4 Further Healing Symbols
-
Energy Cords
-
Different Types
of Energy, for example, environmental, personal,
spiritual
-

Fears
-
